There is nothing more heartbreaking than the death of a child--especially a death that could have been prevented.  Children with life-threatening medical conditions need more than just proper medical treatment; they need a reason to keep fighting.  Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia gives these children a reason to keep battling their illness while leaving a lasting impact on the child’s life and on their family.

We are a group of students from the University of Richmond raising money for Sarah, a four-year-old suffering from Leukemia. Her wish is to go to Disney World with her family and be a princess in pink.  Her wish costs $11,050, and with only one semester to raise enough money to grant her wish, all donations are greatly appreciated.  For Sarah, the impact of granting her wish is vital to keep her fighting to beat leukemia and allow her to finally have a normal, healthy childhood, something that has currently been surrendered to her illness.

Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia has made an enormous impact on the recovery of so many children and their families, and Sarah deserves the same inspiration that granting her wish will bring.  In a National Wish Impact Study, it was found that:

·         89% of parents observed increases in wish kids’ emotional strength, which improved their health status.
·         74% of parents saw the wish experience as a positive turning point in the wish kids’ battle against illnesses.
·         98% of parents felt the wish experience gave them the opportunity to be a “normal” family again.

As mentioned before, Sarah’s wish will cost about $11,050, a small price to pay for a healthy childhood.  Any monetary donations will bring her one step closer to her wish and her recovery, but donations such as frequent flier miles or other items that could bring Sarah and her family to Disney World are valuable as well.  We hope that you will consider aiding in Sarah’s battle against Leukemia by donating to her wish.
